Hello all,

My company has purchased another and we are bringing them into our main enviroment. Main site 8720's with two G650. Remote G450-S8300. Both have annoucements.

Number portibility is fine with no extension clash, I just want to bring in the G450's annoucements with them. I can see the annoucements fine with via the Annoucement manager on the ASA on both systems.

My question is, can I just take a backup of the annoucments of the G450 to my hard-drive and then restore them onto the VAL board on the G650? Would this include everything or should I just take back up's of the wav files and then manually duplicate the setup on the G650 VAL board and then restore the wav onto it.

Apologies if my question isn't clear.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

It isn't clear. But just backup the G450 announcements to your hard drive. Then FTP them to the new VAL board.

Yes if VAL Manager is working correctly, you just copy the files to your hard drive, MAKE COPIES for safekeeping, maybe to a network drive, then mess with the files.

Change the name of the audio file to match the name of the announcement then move them to your other switch

When using VAL announcements, you MUST MUST include the announcement extension number in the name of the announcement, which matches the name of the audio file. Otherwise you have no clue what file belongs to an announcement number

The format most of us have settled on is "70345_Generic_1st_Delay"

I have never seen that done. While I guess its helpful. Its not really necessary. Just 'list ann' in CM and you see both the name and the extension. Then match that to what VAL manager says.
