Annex XL, terminal server, connection issue

I don't know if this is the right forum. I have a few xylogics micro annex xl's. I've researched on google on how to connect to them. I have a xylogics cable connected to my pc. I'm also using hyperterminal with the following settings (9600, 8N1) as per some online documentation. I pluged the cable into port one, turned on the unit and immediatly hit the test button. I waited for a couple of minutes or more and nothing came up. Is there something I should be doing differently. Is there a key sequence that I have to hit, such as ctrl-break?
