We are asked this question at least once a week by all the anime lovers, who visit our site. I guess, the proper question here should be: Can the NEW Photoshop 6 help one make animes (not just stills, but 2D animations, otherwise called, "motion graphics"), like its big brother, Adobe After Effects?

In fact the Adobe After Effects is known by professional animators (check DV Magazine, 12/2000, pg.36) as THE BEST in price/quality animation production package on the market today. However, comparing to Photoshop 5/6 it is far too expensive (only the upgrade is about $1500) and far too complicated to learn and use on your own! The After Effects' cousin, Aura 2 (NewTek), is only about $800, but is even more complicated, than the After Effects...

So, will the NEW Photoshop 6 save the anime artists' and fans' day by allowing them at least to create basic animations, say like the new and extremely inexpensive VideoPaint of Ulead 6? That would be a relief, huh?

Please, let me/us know ASAP!

it should as it ships with image ready which links in with photoshop. It might take a little tweaking but if you know ps that it will be a snip to get some actions together etc.

Thinking about it I might give it a try.

Although my work mate would say use flash !!

What program or plug-in do I need to use Photoshop to make a list of names that will scroll up or down?

please elaborate on this for me. -----------------------------

Widgie, I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean, exactly, but to me, it seems more a Flash thing than a Photoshop thing. So I would say, if you want automatic scrolling, do it in Flash

Macromedia Flash or Adobe LiveMotion are animation software packages.

They have an editable timeline, tweening, sound support amoung other things to aid in animation.

Flash is capable of creating Web animation or free standing executable projectors.

Both animation packages create smaller files if vector images are used.

Photoshop has the capability of editing bitmap graphics. Its animation ability is limited to GIF animations in ImageReady.

If flash is good enough for the Gorillaz...
...need I say more?

X-)
