I made an animation in Fireworks MX along with a page I created. I exported the page to html and then opened it but the animation did not work. The imaje was there but no animation. Help would be appreciated

I've never made animated gifs... but in the optimize panel, do you have to set it to "animated gif" rather than "gif"??

You probably have done that already, and it's something else!
