I have an image (in both .psd and .eps format) that I am looking to use for the splash page of a webpage.
I would like to have this page open up by splitting in the middle, like a curtain, like an animated image..

I have no idea how to do this or what tool to use.

What I am asking is which type of tool would I use?

Corel Draw, something from Macromedia, something else.

Not sure Draw if the ideal tool but not an expert on this sort of thing.

You'd probably use Flash for something like this, but the real question is *why would you do this?* Splash pages only annoy the end user and serve no purpose to benefit a website.

They may not annoy everybody but they certainly do me expecially if they take time to download and serve no purpose at the end of it. Remember a web site is to inform the visitor not give them an 'experience'

Thanks for the feedback..
This is website is for a group of young kids and this is something that they would like. I guess you could say that we are not looking to teach these kids on the best practices of designing a website but rather showing these kids a new direction in life, an intro to engineering and IT.

I am a VB and Oracle guy, no real knowledge on website design. I'm just a volunteer to this group.

Thanks again.

If You are more or less familiar with Macromedia Flash animation and would like to use Corel Draw to create the effect, then:
1) Create image
2) Use envelope Tool, to change form of the object or objects
3) Use Corel R.A.V.E. to create animation
4) Export it as .swf file
5) Place the file in Your web page

Thanks Andris007,

But I'm not familar with any of these tools, macromedia or Corel. I do have access to both of them though.

Would you recommend one more than the other?

thanks a bunch!

Flash. It`s the best for 2D web graphics, You can create animated web elements, animations, e-cards, games, interactive presentation, use Action Script, built all the web site using only Flash.
Corel R.A.V.E. will be be usefull if You are used to work with Corel Draw and dont`t have time to learn Flash.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot...
I'm sure you'll see more posts from me about this shortly!

THanks again.
