Is it possible to animate a program that is executed as a background tasks in Unix using the &.

I've tried using cross session animation but the background task suspends and I get an operating system error saying that it is trying to send output, even though there is no output being produced.

You can definitely do this, I used to do it at my previous job but its been the best part of 3 years and my memory seems to have leaked.

I seem to remember that the background process ran on a preset tid and that you gave the tid as a command line argument when running the animate script. I also remember you had to use the unix workbench to set a breakpoint in the program before you started animating so's it interrupted the process at the relevant point.

Sorry if the info is a bit patchy, I hope it points you in the right direction.
