Animated Gifs

I know animated gifs are a bit old school but is it possible to create them in PSP X2? I can't find any tools that look like they've been built to do the job.

I'm more used to Photoshop and Image Ready but we don't have them at my company (nor would they be willing to buy them). I don't know how to use flash (and they wouldn't buy it anyway).

If PSP can't do it, is there any free software available?

While you can create Gif's with PSP. You can't make them animated.

Back before Corel bought PSP from Jasc, PSP came bundled with a companion Application called Animation Shop that would create animated Gif's.

But it since has been discontinued. If you can find it its a very nice little tool to create animations.

Thanks Vacunita! I actually managed to get hold of a copy of PSP 6 with the Animation Shop included so I finally managed to create my animated gif. I used the 'Wizard' because I was short on time but need to figure out how (and if) it's possible to create frames using layers rather than different files for each frame.

What I do, is create exactly that, a single image with the layers to represent the states for the animation. Then just copy the relevant layer into the frame. That way everything is kept in a single file.
