Is anyone aware of problems running animated gifs on a Linux web server? I've added an animated gif to my webpage. It works fine when I load the html from my local drive - but when I run it from my website - it acts as if it can't find the file. Yes, I'm sure it's there. I have other images in the same directory that appear (they are not animated).

Thanks

shouldn't be a problem.... you should make sure that you have uploaded it to the correct directory or check your html to make sure you are referencing the correct directory/file. luciddream@subdimension.com

if using ws_ftp you might want to make sure the file was transfered in the right format.

Images going to the server are usually transferred in binary if sent in ascii sometimes this causes a problem.

I used Coffee Cup FTP(chose binary transfer). I do have WS_FTP also. I'll try that tonight. I would do it from work - but the security czar won't let me ftp.

I don't think Linux has any problem with gif... At least I haven't heard anything before... Make sure the file is in the right place and check the code as well.....

Have a good one

OK - I copied the exact same files - in the exact same manner to another site I have, and it works fine. Either there's a problem with animated gifs on Linux or BlueDomino doesn't support them. Just found out BlueDomino won't let me upload mp3's - irks me.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Turns out that some anigifs work and some don't on my bluedomino (Linux) site. Don't know why yet. They all work on another site that I have that is not Linux. BlueDomino is not responding to my e-mails.

Anybody out there using bluedomino for web-hosting?

Tim

If you haven't already, also check that your FTP program has not changed the case of the filenames. Robert Bradley
