Animated gif using createfromgif command

Well, gdLibrary 2.0.29 and newer supports writing to animated GIFs. And I have seen a closed PHP bug report with talks about problems opening an animated gif.
But the gdLibrary shows functions like gdImageGIFAnimAdd() for adding GIF animation frames to an animated GIF. And those functions are not supported in PHP.
Most places I've read recommend using ImageMagick (if available) with PHP controlling ImageMagick.
