I don't know if this is the right forum - if it's not, please suggest a more appropriate forum and I'll repost.

When I try to play an animated GIF ( in Internet Explorer 6, it plays very, very slowly. But if I play it - even simultaneously with the IE - in another picture program (IrfanView) - it plays just fine at full speed.

Any ideas why?

Thanks!

Could it be that the picture is not entirely loaded from the website? The gif is loaded picture by picture, so on the first loop, depending on your speed and the server speed, the images are being loaded thus being played slowly. Looking at the file locally would mean it is playing at normal speed. The second loop in the browser should be played at normal speed as well.

And the link plays pretty nice (after the first loop) in my IE6.

Interesting. Can you play animated GIFs in Mozilla 1.5?

Vragabond,

I did save it to my local machine - that's what I was talking about...

After the VERY SLOW initial load, it runs ok. My guess is that your server is serving the 430K image up too slowly...

Wolf,

But it was running off of my local machine...

how fast is the image loading? It took about 2-3 minutes on my T3 connection...

Same thing again...

Any settings in IE that I should know about? Is there a better forum to ask that question in?

Thanks,

An animated GIF that's half a meg?! Yeesh! That's really, really big for an animated GIF.

Hm, 48 frames at 16 2/3 fps.

You could probably make this smaller as an MPEG, you know.

I can watch it using IE and Mozilla, but I think making it an MPEG will help you out.

Cheers,
