I know this is question is a little off for this forum, but this forum was the closest thing I could find that would match my question.

I have been searching the net, and can't seem to find a site that sells simple gates. All I'm looking for are And, XOR, and Not gates. Anybody know where I can find these? 1001100 1110101 1101011 1100101

Once you figure out the chips you need you order them from JDR, jameco, digi-key, or any other electronic supply house.
You will find that they come in a variety of packages but it sounds like you probably will want the DIP packaging.
And generally you get multiple logic gates on 1 package.
You could also look at manufacturer's web sites for their product line. TI , Intel , and Hitachi would be my start point. You are looking for TTL products. or LSTTL or fast TTL. Generally 74xx, 74LSxx, or the 54xx equivalents. Ed Fair

Wow, thank you soooo much. One last question. It would really simplify my logic if there was such thing as 110vac NAND gates. This is my first time ever trying to create my own circuitry, so Thanx 1001100 1110101 1101011 1100101

I think you'll find it hard to track down any electronic logic circuitry that isnt 5-12VDC. The way semiconductors work relies on the current passing one way only through the substrate.

Well ,yes, but it is slower. Called relays. And you have timing problems and all sort of glitches, but if you know your conditions and what you want, you can do it.
Or you could use the commercial equivalent, logic controllers. Square D is one possible source. Ed Fair

Radio Shack sells some TTLs and DIPs that might work. They also have the breadboards, etc. They also have relays and microcontrollers. (may have to order the controllers). Jim

Please come back and let us know if your
problem is fixed and what fixed it!! [thumbsup2]

Hey, thanks for the help everyone. I have enough information to get started. Turns out I will just have to use relays. 1001100 1110101 1101011 1100101

You could look on the sister site (Eng-Tips) for process control engineering. They do this stuff all the time. High voltage control panels for things like production lines are full of relay logic. Not as full as they used to be, but still impressive.
I got a tour of the control room for the water jet fountain for the Salt Lake City winter Olympics and it was about 6 cabinets worth of relays and control circuits. Ed Fair

Radio shack use to sell an excellent book on basic electronics but it went out of print and they dont sell it any more. It was a classic book with lots of projects and basic theory. I don't know why they do not sell it anymore. My professor was referencing it in the Computer Logical design class I took. They may have an inexpensive paperback book on logic circuits you can buy.
