anchoring images

I have an application which returns numerous records. At the top of some of the columns are up and down arrow images which when clicked on will sort the shown records by that field in descening or ascending order. The only problem is that the arrows are surrounded by a blue square link, just as if the image is underlined. How can I display these arrows as a link without showing the blue around it?
