Is there any way to analyze the size of individual elements within a database? I have a database that has been compacted and repaired and the size still seems a bit large for what it contains.

I'd like to be able to see what individual elements within the database are taking up all the space.

Have you used the table and/or performance analyzer under Tools menu?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But, rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!

Yes, I've given those a try but they don't really tell me anything that I feel would help me.

does it have VBA modules in it? if so you may try to decompile the db(make a backup first). Decompile does to the modules with VBA what compact and repair does to the tables and such to reclaim unused space.

msaccess.exe /decompile "Path to db with quotes around it if it contains spaces"

The go into the db and recompile it.

The link in this thread may be of interest also if you are going to decompile thread669-832097

I tried to have patience but it took to long! :) -DW

Embedded images can also be the cause of large file size.
