I have a 3rd party company application that is creating core files and their services go away. They said they do not analyze core files....

HP-UX says they analyze only their own....

Does anyone have a cheat sheet that I can use review the core file and give the Application Support my findings...

Thanks....

Stuck between "It's not our Job

very complicated.
good to cooperate with app vendor not analyzing their own core files - just great!
as a matter of fact HP support people were right [sad]
at the beginning try:
- 'file' to see the signal that application received
- 'gdb/wdb' and unwind the stack
- not having sources does not simplify troubleshooting [sad]
- hope the binaries are not stripped

with above info you would be able to say to your app support, that with the following stack app receives given signal and aborts.

however if they (app vendor) do not analyze cores - they are not willing to help even if you give them more precise info...

any log files of application? some circumstances of those failures? what are the signals?

sorry, not really helpful
