Hi,

I'm new to Analysis Studio and have come across a few issues over the last week that some might be able to help with.

How should cubes be run? They will eventually be embedded in dashboards for us. Should it be the html output that's embedded or the output of when you actually click on the cube name.

It;s just that there are differences between the two.

What we want is to have drop down lists at the top of the cubes where you can drill down to the levels. The context menu allows this but when you run it in html, the menu's dont appear.

What is the standard practice? what output do people normally use for analysis studio cubes?

Thanks!

The Cognos Cube is still basically Cognos 7 technology. It is developed using Cognos 7 transformer and it is accesible from Analysis Studio by means of an Cognos 8 package.
A Cube itself is an dimensional database (and pretty useless as a reporting means itself)
The package can be used by other Cognos 8 tools, though you will lose the drilling capabilities that Analysis Studio.
Basically it is an analysts-tool, not designed for presenting data.

Thanks Ties for getting back to me.

Maybe I phrased the q wrong though.
I have DMR metadata modeled in Framework manager and I want to present this using Analysis Studio.

I'm wondering how people run their Analysis studio reports. When we demo the reports should we be demo'ing the html layout, or the layout when you click on the report name.

Also when embedding them into dashboards, which Analysis studio output would people use?

Thanks

AFAIK Analysis Studio is just a way of generating a report (be it HTML / PDF etc)
You can run an existing report definition from Cognos connection or open it up in Analysis Studio and run it as HTML / PDF etc.

In all cases the data from within Analysis Studio is displayed as such in either HTML/PDF etc format.

What are you using for creating dashboards?
