I use Windows NT authentication to connect to the data source (SQL Server 2000).

I am able to test the connection successfully as well as see db objects, and create dimensions and cubes.

However when I try to process a dimension/all dimensions, or a cube/all cubes, I get the following error message:

Data source provider error: Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM'.;42000; Time:6/11/2003 8:21:37 PM

The same works just fine for a login that was created using SQL Server Authentication.

Any ideas?

Thank you!
Anastasia.

in the datasource editor you have checked the option for allow saving password?

Thank you!
I don't think this option is available when you check Win NT authentication.

Also, I checked that NT users are OLAP Administrators on both machines (server and workstations).

Ok, we figured it out. If anyone ever has the same problem:

If Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 or Windows® 2000 integrated security is used, the logon account associated with the MSSQLServerOLAPService service must have permissions to access data sources that Analysis Services administrators can access through Analysis Manager. Otherwise, Analysis Services administrators will not be able to process the objects they maintain using Analysis Manager.

Thanks for the update. I'll add this tidbit of information to my file. You never know when you may come across this. Congrats on figuring it out.
