Analysis Services 2000 / 2005 Database Restore

I've previously worked with Microsoft SQL Analysis Services 2000 and have successfully backed up to / restored from '.cab' files.
We now are dealing with a Microsoft SQL Analysis Services 2005 installation - and this looks to make use of a '.adf' file to restore from.

Is a backup taken from Microsoft SQL Analysis Services 2000 valid to be restored to Microft SQL Analysis Services 2005?
Given the fact that these deal with different file extensions.
I've attempted to restore from a '.cab' file via 2005 but this simply errors.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
