I'me surching for an IP solution toe create an analoge extension (Fax) over IP.

The desktop phones are IP phones. But I need a solution for the fax machine.

Solutions in the way of 1 analoge port at the main side, transformed to IP (IP convertor) than going to the remote side over IP and at the remote side re-transform the IP to analogue line.

Does anyone know this kind of solution and know the stability?

What system are you using for your ip phones?
There are a couple vendors who I believe have ip phones
with built in analog ports for doing such things. I think there are also several adapters to do it.

The PBX is an Ericsson MD110. It has IP phones (Dialog 3413), but any H.323 should work. (at least netmeeting does).

I just want to install a fax in the remote office where we only use IP extensions. So thats why the IP to analogue port adapter is looked for. Unified messaging is no option as the amount of faxes is small for the remote offices.

If you are looking for a single port solution, you could use the Cisco ATA 186 (about 160.00 each). You would set it up like an off premise extension using an analog port from the main PBX and converting back to analog dial tone at the remote office. Robert Harris

I thought that the Cisco ATA used the Skinny protocol, not H.323. But, I just looked at the data sheet and they are supporting H.323, SIP and MGCP as well. Given my druthers, I'd probably pick this as well.
