Can anyone tell me what in Windows 2000 server could be monitoring SMTP? I am using Analog X proxy server on a simple 4 client network and cannot get SMTP to work. Therefore, nobody on the network can send e-mail. The troubleshooting instructions for the proxy server indicate that there may be some other (mail?)server in use but I have yet to find anything of the sort.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no great expert on this, but if you have IIS running, maybe that's the source, assuming you're not running BackOffice server with Exchange server.

Hi ,
Is there any way to hide the proxy icon from the taskbar??
So no one can know if it's working or not ?

Thanks A Lot .

I'm not aware of a setting for the program, but there are utilities to hide part or all of the system tray such as or just do a Google search on 'hide system tray'. I haven't tried any of them, I just know they exist.

Good luck!

I can't activate my ftp on analogx proxy does it need to be set in other services? I'm using win2k server...

Check you don't have any services enabled on Win2k that are conflicting since IIS has an ftp service if it's running. If it's just a question of your ftp program not connecting, then the problem may be with the ftp program needing to be set up to use a proxy. The AnalogX proxy just needs the service enabled via the configuration option in the program, for details see the AnalogX readme file.

when i activate the FTP on the analogx proxy, the proxy indicator turns red, it means not functioning well, My server is DC and it also my proxy anything I must do to activate the ftp???

Thank you for the reply.

No it is activated by default I think, the red icon means a conflict with one of the services. Turn them all off except http and see if proxy starts OK. If it does, then re-enable each in turn, seeing whether proxy goes green at each point. When it goes red, you have found the service with the problem, and will have to look at your Win2k server setup for the conflicting service.

hi, to all,
By the way i have the same problem here, only with the http,is setup in a windows 2000 professional, it was working more less, but i think it has to be somethig with the version of the analogx proxy, it 4.13, has many brakes in w2k, but work fine in windows nt 4.
I really apreciate any advice!
