you're allowed to make your own station types as long as they map to real models.

PolyAn probably would mean an analog polycom but it's still a 2500 type set.

Fax and Modem are just labelled that way for your convenience, they're not real phone types.

aliases are to allow search commands based on set type. alias entries are added to the help for a
station's Type: field. An alias will function as the Supported Set Type.

Command: list station type fax

even though fax is functionally a 2500 Set Type
