What device can someone recommend that will allow me to convert my analg video to digital video through my MAC so that I can convert those movies to DVD?

A digital video camera can suit basic tasks.

You can hook up the analog inputs of a DV camera to the analog output of the video deck and make a DV copy. Then plug the DV cam in the Mac and play back you DV tape.

If your videocamera lacks such a facility, or you lack a vidoe camera, then look at Miglia (Directors Cut), Canopus (?ADC55) for dedicated devices or consider purchasing one of the TV/Satellite boxes that allow for analogue input as well as aerial (El Gato, Miglia, Formac).

If it's a one-off job, it might be easier and cheaper to get someone to do it for you - there seem to be plenty of people who offer to transfer formats - Cine, Hi8,VHS to whatever you want.
