I'm trying to connect an analog set with no luck.

I have 2 analog set licenses.

I show both are Active Sets in the BCM Element Manager and the one I"m trying to get working shows as port 413.

I have it connected on Device 5 - pins 5 & 30. (White/Slate)

No dial tone.

When I dial the extension from a digital set, it rings so it's terminating somewhere on the block, but for the life of me, I can't figure out where.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Shawn

Thats the right pair and if you have analog station licenses they should have dial tone. I would have a look at the telco cable and make sure it's properly connected at the bcm end. A lot of times, if you ty-rap it too tight at the cable end it pivots the connector and the first half dozen or so pairs don't make proper contact.

If it's not that, try another cable and connect a jack directly on the white/slate cable pair. If you don't get dial tone there, look at replacing the unit, but do try a power off reboot first.

Good Luck

I'm ok with pins at both ends of the cable, for trunks and digital sets and it's connected fine i'm sure.

The cable is good. I just moved it from the CICS to the BCM when I upgraded.

When I plug a set into it, I get "line in use" indication on the set, which is what it would do if you plugged it into a standard pots line at home and someone else picked up an extension. I tried it on the CO trunk and it works fine there.

When I activated the analog sets, does the BCM default to the first analog port? Is there any way of check in Element Manager which pair it is using?

Is there something I've not activate in the configuration which is hold up the port?

Is there something in maintenance which can tell me if the port is properly configured?

In the Element Manager, under Resources / Telephony Resources - it shows all of the ports and the sets active - but for the analog port (413) it has the "State" as Unavailable.

To check the ports have you taken your test set at the block to see if you have dialtone?

If port 413 is showing unavailable, that means it hasn't been activated by the key code. Do any of the 4 analog ports show as active?

Under Telephony --> Sets --> Active Sets: I have DN 233 MODEL Analog Port 413

Under Resources --> Telephony Resources --> Internal Sets: Port 413 has no DN assigned to it and the State is 'Not Available"

I just assumed that first Analog Set would activate on the first analog pair. I think all I did was change the DN.

The test set at the block has no dial tone.

I suggest you try connecting the New cable harness that came with your bcm and check pair 5 Grey/slate to see if you have dial tone across this pair ok.
Disconnect your old cable
connect the new cable and strip back to get at pair 5
Just connect your test butt across this to ckeck for dial tone.

as long as the keycode has been enabled you should have dial tone as long as its not a bcm50 Rel1 which i am sure its not because the keycode does not work

Try rebooting.
