thread965-1617426
The question I have was brought up in an earlier thread, but look like it didn't get resolved.

I have a Siemens Hipath 4K V6. A user today asked why the Polycom Soundstation 2 in the conference room couldn't set up a conference call. It's a feature of the Polycom apparently.
I am using a SLMAE board.
When activating the Conference button on the Polycom, it would say FLASH, and nothing would happen.
I checked the settings in Assistant and checked the Enable Flash in the Basic 1 tab.

Now when the conference key on the Polycom is pushed, it FLASHes and gets a dial tone. The first user gets put on hold and a second user can be called. However, when trying to join the two parties with the polycom, it hangs up on the second caller.

Is there another setting I need to look at for the line?

Thanks for any help with this!

If your WABE is correct then you should have an entry for CONF.
If not then you need to add it.
When the 2 calls are made you put in the CONF code.
Not sure if more than 2 will work.

When setting up a HiPath 4000/OpenScape 4000 you need to add a code to every WABE possibility.

Here is an example for V6

Do you use flash again to bridge the two calls??

Also not sure if needed but put it in

@donb01
I don't know what the Polycom sends. It might be another flash. There's a conference button that is pressed initially when on the first call. That's when FLASH appears on the Polycom screen, and a dial tone is heard. Once the second caller answers the call, there is a JOIN option on the Polycom screen that can be selected by a soft button. When the button is pressed, FLASH reappears on the screen. That's when the second caller is hung up on, and the dial tone is heard again. So it might be trying to join them that way.

@sbcsu
Thanks. I looked it up, and I do have a CONF.

Code:
  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  |                 |    CALL PROGRESS STATE     |NODE/DIGIT| RESERVED/CONVERT |
  |      CODE       |            1 11111 11112 22| ANALYSIS | DNI/ADD-INFO     |
  |                 |0 12345 67890 12345 67890 12|  RESULT  | *=OWN NODE       |
  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  | *4              |. *...* ..*.. ..... ..... .*| CONF     |                  |

Just to ask, why add the code for every one?

I REGENed it to look at the difference between my ADD and yours for CONF.
Mine is: ADD-WABE:*4,,,CONF,N,,,,,,,,;
Yours is: ADD-WABE:**9080,,,CONF,N,,,,,,,,;

If I've interpreted that correctly, then the only difference is that on my system, the code is *4 to activate a conference, and on your example, it's **9080. Right?

I tried dialling *4 during a connected call using the Openscape 40T, it says "Not Allowed",
Then I tried dialling it during a connected call using the Polycom, which had no effect.
Also, it looks like VARCONF is already an activated feature.

I looked at some of the other ADDs you had listed, and compared them to my system. If I've got it right, the only difference is that you (the example installer) prefer using ** in front of your activate numbers, and my installer preferred a single *.

If you add the code for every function, then every function will work, especially via a menu on a digital phone.
If the code is missing then the feature is missing on a digital phone screen, also on analog.
The only reason for the ** is to reduce the amount of codes used by dialing just * which might be used by a customer.

Can you try this without the Polycom and see if you can get it working on a POTs phone and possibly a digital phone (OptiSet/OptiPoint)

In the polycom's menus, if it has menus, is there a provision to change the length of the flash function?? It's been a while, but I think the default flash timing is 1500ms. Maybe the flash is too long or too short, but I have no idea who would have messed with it.... I know when I try to flash by hand using a hookswitch I either do it too short and don't get what I want, or do it too long and disconnect the call....

@sbcsu
Good info. Thanks!
Tried it on a POTS phone w/wout flash with no effect (just the fast busy tone). Tried on my TDM Openscape 40Ts w/wout flash, it said "Not Allowed" before. Now is says "Not Possible".

@donb01
Interesting idea. I spent some time today looking at the Polycom Soundstation2 support site, and found a poster having the same issue with a Siemens switch. No resolution from them though. It did cover how to change the Flash timing. The options are: 75ms, 100ms, 300ms or 600ms. My Polycoms are defaulted to 600ms.

I tried all of the settings on the Polycom. With 75ms, the flash function does not work anymore. With the other settings, I have the same problem as before.

Oh well, It's not that big of an issue. I appreciate the help! I can tell the user that I looked into it.

Have a great weekend sbcsu and donb01!
