Is there a way to tell if a analog TN is being used trying to free up some tn's. I know a Digital tn if the phone is not used in a X amount of time it will disable itself. So I need some help to see if there is a command to help my issue.

None that I know of, if you have call records maybe you can do a search there and see when the last time the DN was used.

Disable the DN, wait for someone to complain - nobody complains after x days, delete it and move on.

There is a way to do it, but it's a labour intensive process.

It involved a multi-meter that can read impedance, a time when you can pull the analogue card out of the system, a lot of patience, and (possibly) the sacrifice of small farmyard animals. :)

I have found that if you pull the card from the switch, you can look at the line impedance and tell if there is a phone at the other end of the wire. The higher the impedance, the more chance there was of a set being there. The trick was to establish a baseline with a known jack that was empty, and then plug a set in. And this had to be done per floor/frame to get accurate readings as the line length made a difference.

Once you have these baselines, then you have to pull the card and test each connected TN to see what's out there.

It's about 90-95% accurate.

yyrkroon, yea I also do it that way but I did get caught one time about 5 years ago. I was cleaning up some ports and had them disabled for over a month with no complaints so I went ahead and outed them. Well wouldn't you know it about 2 weeks later someone complained because the ELEVATOR phone was out. So now if I can I put all of my analog sets into a group and run the call records as far back as I can to see what's used if not then disableing is the next best thing.
