Looking for a potential solution. running 7.6. I need a fax line in a building where there are no lines over there to that building whatsoever. Running some over would cost too much. Any suggestions?

When you say no line over there - do you mean absolutely nothing as in no copper, no ethernet, no wifi... if that's the case, no need for a fax either :)

Seriously though, you're going to have to decide - pots or VoIP, get a bid from the telco to see how much to terminate a pots line to where you want the fax add the monthly reoccuring charge and weight it against running ethernet into the area and placing the fax on an ATA

Another way might be to use an adapter such as a Cisco LinkSys 2 port VOIP unit which I've used with great success on my BCM 50 system so that I can use SIP trunks to be converted to use the analogue trunk ports, but it was originally used on an analogue phone.

It only costs a few pounds on Flebay. You might even be able to have it connected via SIP trunks off the CS1000 system.

I have had way to many problems with consistant functionality of fax over VOIP. I agree with just having a pots line brought in..... it will save you more than $30/mo in headaches easily. Chasing tail on faxes that don't go through the first time the user tries it and cries about it will drive you insane! You have to train them to be patient and not walk away - good luck!
