Guys,

System is 3300 MCD 6 SP1

there are times where customers don't want to enter a leading digit to get an outside line, i.e Faxes and Elevator Phones.

So... if I program an analog extension to be a hotline extension and to dial 9 this would meet the requirement. the problem is that after the hotline dials 9 it doesn't allow me to enter any more digits.

This does not happened if I create a hotline on an IP Phone.

Any ideas how to make the analog phone to dial out additional digits, or can you think on another way to get around?

Regards,

Daniel

Daniel, I'm am sorry to say that automatically dialing a leading digit is not currently possible. I still hold out hope but as I've been asking for this since the 2K days, I'm not holding my breath.

In, North America, in most areas, there is another relatively simple method.

Design your ARS to function without a leading digit.

In NA this mean to avoid internal conflicts with digit 1 and any local area code used for 10 digit local calling.

We still have issues with 0+ dialing as we typically use zero for internal reception but Faxes don't use 0+ so we're still clear.

e.g.
In my area normal leading digit dialing:
91 + 10
9780 + 7
9587 + 7
91800 + 7
90 + unknown
9911
9411
9611

This becomes:
1 + 10
780 + 7
587 + 7
1800 + 7
911

I quite often program both methods to be active so that either method works.

kwb,

what if we program an analog extension to be a hotline, then we make it to dial something that goes out using ARS, that call will go out using an IP trunk loop back to itself and then the trunk service assignment will answer that call and insert the 9...

would that work?

that loop back can also be made using ISDN (BRI preferably as this does not consume digital link licenses).

I'll test this and let you know.

Regards,

Daniel

I'm assuming you are using digital trunking, If so, believe me when I say, I've tried all the tricks.

If you are using analog trunking, then it's a different story.
