Hello all
Couple of questions regarding installing the cabling from the central PBX location to cabins on a resort . I plan to install gel filled cable to connect some cabins (accomodations) to a Panasonic PBX. The last cabin will have approximately 1500ft of cable between the phone and the PBX. Will I have issues running an analog extension that far? If so, any suggestions on how to correct the issue?
Secondly, I plan to ground the sheath of the gel cable (25pr), should I be "protecting" the pairs as well? If so, with what kind of device?

Thanking You in Advance

Analog extensions should have no problem going that far - some (like the Nortel ATA I believe) can go nearly a mile. I'm sure you can Google the spec.

No, grounding the sheath does not necessarily protect all pairs. You would want a proper lighting protector on the PBX end of the cable, such as this Circa model:

You don't say which type of Panasonic system it is, there is normally a section in the Panasonic installation manual for that system advising you of cable types and rated distances, this link is for a KX-TDA50

so yours may differ?

as atcom says google your Panasonic model and look for the installation manual for these specifications
