hello guys.. I have a question that's driving me nuts.. I have an analog extension from a Nortel switch comming in to an analog trunk port of an IPO running 4.2.4 from the IPO to the nortel everything works fine.. but the other way around it doesn't

when I call the extension from the nortel, I have an AA picking up the call, I dial the IPO extension and it rings.. if I hangup the call from the nortel, it keeps on ringing in the IPO ext.

any ideas?? suggestions?? I've played with the Ring persistency, ring off maximum and disconnect clear parameters and it still rings when the the nortel ext is hung up.

>disconnect clear parameters

What loop current drop time does the Nortel provide?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Have a look here;

It works! Now if only I could remember what I did...

Matt, I currently don't have access to the nortel tec that works here to ask him that question, is there anything else that I can play with?? should I make the disconnect clear parameter higher?? I currently have it set to 1000 ms

Bas.. thanks.. I'll do some reading.

The reason I ask is that I suspect that the Nortel extension port is not programmed to provide loop current disconnect. It is not usual for an analogue extension to provide this service - it is only ever used by IVR equipment (things that aren't smart enough to figure out that the other end has hung up) and so is rarely implemented by default.

I don't know for sure that the Nortel even supports loop current drop.

Matt, your infor was very illustrative.. and I appreciate your time on this.. as soon as I have access to the phone tech I will ask him, based on what you wrote on your post, and hopefully we can get it resolved..

thank you so much.

worst case scenario, I use 2 analog extensions from the IPO to analog trunks on the Nortel =)

The IPO does support Loop Current Disconnect - set the IPO extension to Type IVR and set the required time!

You can also test for yourself. Put a multimeter across tip and ring from nortel. Call IPOffice, hear AA, hang up. If nortel is providing disconnect supervision you should see the meter drop to 0 vdc for 500ms +/-. If you don't see the drop, then you're not getting it from nortel.
