Ok - I ordered (3) analog DID trunks from telco and just installed my 800 DID card. Telco says that they should be wink-start and are configured to send (4) digits. I have a (4) digit dial plan however they come nowhere close to the telco block that is assigned. My extensions are 2100 through 2130. Telco is providing 8300 through 8319. Once I configure the expected digits to be 4 then do I do a removal and addition of digits? Do I simply remove 2 digits then add the digits "21". Once I'm done with this does everything magically work? All calls will now be routed to the appropriate extensions. Lastly, how do these lines look on the operator console? Since they are inbound only does the operator automatically get assigned these on the console phone? Thank you for all your help!!!

DID truks are not assigned to the console. Drop two digits (83)on the 4 inbound and insert 2 digits, 21, that will in effect make the range of DID's for internal purposes 2100 - 2119. You could keep the numbers as they are and renumber the extensions, but you will have a conflict with default line numbers, and those line numbers will have to be renumbered. Dropping and inserting will be more sensible.

Q1) Do I simply remove 2 digits then add the digits "21".

A1) Yes

Q2)
Once I'm done with this does everything magically work?

A2) Yes

However, it looks like you have 20 D-I-D's and something like 30 Extensions.

If this is true, then you won't have enough D-I-D's.

The quantity of DID circuits need not match the amount of stations on the switch.
You just need to have sufficient DID paths from the telco to facilitate a reasonable call volume,in this case they can handle 20 inbound calls at once, which is good, since the outbound service is not dependent on the DID's.
For 30 stations even if they were using 20 POTS for inbound/outbound service they would be OK providing they have moderate call volume.

Sorry Merlinman I took another look at your post and now see what you are saying...You are refering to DID range(20) versus extension range(30) not DID ciruits.
My bad...I am truly sorry.

Not a problem.

Perhaps he does not have 30 extensions either.

I have 30 available extension ports but only 19 telephones. Everybody is right and I was not clear! Sorry for all the confusion people! Thank you so much for all of your help!
