Sorry about the long title.

This question isn't exactly Mitel specific, but I am connecting the phone to a Mitel 3300 ICP. :)

I'm trying to find an analog conference phone that supports multiple inbound callers. We currently have an analog Polycom SoundStation 2201-03308-001 conference phone. I have not been able to find a way to accept more than one inbound call (the first one) when using this for conference calls. Our Mitel service provider has indicated that this is a limitation of this phone.

Thank you!

Any analogue device can only handle 1 call per line cord connection. Therefore if its analogue you require something with multipul line cords. Is there a reason why you want an analogue one? You could use the Mitel conf unit instead.

We're not exactly setup for IP in that particular meeting room... [surprise]

bobcheese, I'm not sure I follow. The analog conference phone we have *does* handle multiple callers (a conference call), but all but the first call must be outbound (originate internally). The first call can be either outbound or inbound. There is only one phone line going into the conference phone.

Thank you!

this is not possible without a dedicated conference bridge
once a phone is busy analogue or digital it is not possible to call in to it.
Calling out is possible without a dedicated conference bridge up to 8 devices

From what you described you are talking about you require multipul people calling into the conference phone at one time. THIS cannot be achieved by a single line analogue conference phone. What you describe about what can be done at the moment with outgoing calls is just making use of the conference call facility within the 3300 that ANY phone can make use of not justr conference phones.

actually, you kind of can do what you want. it is an old-old feature that I haven't used in over 10 years. It is called non-busy extension and from the help file

Select "Yes" to indicate that the associated extension is a non-busy extension (NBE). A NBE will never return a busy tone to the caller; each caller will automatically intrude and form a conference with any other users. Up to eight users may be conferenced together, and further calls are queued and allowed to enter the conference as current members drop out. The NBE cannot originate calls unless it is also programmed as a hotline extension.

the only downside, is the not being able to make an outgoing call and having to hotline to reception or something to make a call.
this is programmed in the analog set programming form
