Hello everoby,

We're using Nice Inform 3.2 and a new problem occurred today; when trying to open a distribution with the Nice Media player, we have this message : An unexpected error was encountred whilst opening the distribution.

We had success to make and read a distribution in the past, the last time was a month ago. The distribution was saved on a CD.

Today, we tried with CD and USB drive, but the error occurred only on other PCs than the ones with the Inform clients. Our Inform clients are on virtualized Vista PCs (VMWare); no problem on those ones. We're doing more tests but we have no clear solution yet.

Has anybody already encountered this kind of problem or has an idea about a solution?

Further investigations lead to a 32 bits/64 bits mismatch. Tne Inform Wms are Vista 32 bits and we tried on a Windows 7 64 bits (2 two times). Trying on a XP PC 32 bits made it work.

Looking at the logs, we found this:

Exception: System.BadImageFormatException
Message: Could not load file or assembly 'ChilkatDotNet2, Version=8.8.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=eb5fc1fc52ef09bd' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

Searching on the internet for ChilkatDotNet2, we found that it was a 32/64 bits mismatch.

Why is it? The ChilkatDotNet2 32 bits is the only one enclosed in the distribution package made by Inform for the Media player. So when trying to open the distribution package on a 64 bits PC, the mismatch occurs, causing the error message and, of course, don't ope the distribution.

Thank you but your link doesn't work. I'm getting an error 403 Forbidden (even if I authetified).
 
its a link to the minimum requirements for workstation, you must be a end customer not BP just tried it and can access it, or maybe you havent requested access to the security section on extranice. you should see a security tab after you logon right beside enterprise, if you dont you need to request it if your a authorised bp you will be given access
