Hi,
I'm afraid I'm new to Great Plains having been dropped into the hot seat when our IT Manager left.

We are running Gt Plains v5.5 on Nt workstations with the server running Windows 2000.

One worksation is throw ing up the following error when accessing Transactions> Receivings entry> An open operation on a table 'LC_Receivings_VA_LINE_TEMP failed because the path does not exist.
Clicking OK this is the followe by error> Scrolling window link table not on form.

Sometimes it will work sometimes it fails with the above errors.

Has anyone any ideas, you'll have to take it gently though, I'm really DTP and websites, not Great Plains.

Thanks
Allan

This sounds like a table related to a third party addon as there are no LC tables in the code product. As this is a temp table, it would either be created at the SQL server in the tempdb or on the local drive's temp folder. The error you are describing indicates that the table is being created locally.

So, please check the TEMP environment variable and make sure that the folder it is pointing to actually does exist.

PS: Please note that v5.5 is not a supported version and that I would highly recommend upgrading.

Thanks for the help, I'm sure you're right. In fact before it happened I was tidying up by clearing out some old .tmp files so I guess I may have swept an important file out with the rubbish.

I searched the Temp folder, and everywhere else for any missing files but failed to spot anything. In the end I bit the bullet and reinstalled it and thankfully its up and running like a dream.
Thanks

I was getting this type of error in v7.5 and was told to copy the Dynamics folder from another workstation as an alternative to re-installing (made sure my reports dictionaries were backed up first) and it also worked.

Thanks!

Are you using any third-party for Landed Cost? Check any tables for that product that relates to your Receivings.

Hi,
Yes, tried copying the folder over, thanks.

Unfortunately my solution of re-installing it didn't last long! It ran for about half an hour fine. Then we had a thunderstorm - all workstations switched off, and when it came back on Great Plains was corrupted again. I have decided that its probably the hard drive that's going haywire and I've replaced that workstation with a new XP unit.

Just sorting the gremlins now but most problems seem to be between the network and the XP computer.

Dukester: I got the error again, even after copying someone elses Dynamics folder. And we do have a 3rd party product that uses landed cost (although we are not using it for anything...yet). I only got the error once more, but if I get it again I'll be looking for solutions here before I contact our vendor.

Thanks!
Barb E.

Try to go to the dex.ini on the workstation or the users folder in your File Server. Open it then compare with another dex.ini that doesn't get this error. See anything different? If yes, then just copy the one working then save it.

I found some differences and made some adjustments (saved the old copy just in case).

Thanks!
Barb E.
