I am using a third party application that needs to connect to my Microsoft SQL 6.5 Database. Everytime I launch the application I receive this error message.

“Error in Microsoft Rdo.Connection” An ODBC Error has occurred:
08004: SQL Server Attempt to locate entry in Sysdatabases for database ‘dock03’ by name failed.

I have renamed one of my SQL databases from ‘dock03’ to ‘dock04’. For some reason something is still looking for the old database name ‘dock03’

How and what do I need to change so that it is looking for the new database name ‘dock04’?

Have you looked at the ODBC connection? Go to Data Source (Start>Settings>Control Panel>Data Sources (ODBC) or Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Data Sources). Use the wizard and find the connection that your application is using....then see which database it is trying to connect to.

Ok, I did not see an option for running a Wizard in Data Sources except for if I wanted to add a new User or System DSN.

Try this. Open query analyzer. If you can run a query against db "dock4", then sql server is fine. It's your application that has the issue. You may have to check your documentation for the application installation procedures. When you first installed the application, did you have to point it to "dock3"? Call your tech support for these questions regarding your application needs.

If you don't know much about ODBC data sources or how to check them, get with someone who does. Look under Data Sources in ODBC Administration. If you don't have a SQL server data source already created, then chances are that you never needed one in the first place.
