I have a webpage where I have the background in 3 parts, a header, body, and footer (named header.jpg, body.jpg, footer.jpg)

When I view this page in Internet Explorer it looks fine. When I open it in Netscape, v4.79 gives me a login dialog, and v6.2 just shows the header and the footer. The Body.jpg file is unable to be viewed.

I typed in the address to the body.jpg file, and I got the following error message:

HTTP 401.3 - Access denied by ACL on resource
I have this hosted using IIS 5.0 (Personal Web Server) on a Win2000 box. Any ideas? I'm stumped on this one.

I did try your suggestion, but no dice...

I'm using relative paths (i.e. - "images/body.jpg"), btw.

You say you are using IIS 5.0(Personal Web Server) now IIS 5 and pws are to different things...which one are you using?

It's a permissions issue on the file. Must be in a protected directory. Try opening up the permissions on the directory in question, and see if that clears up the problem. Here's a few articles that speak to the point:

ps -- you'll have to copy and paste the MS link due to their semicolons in the address. This forum sees that as the end of the link

Link9 is right, I was going to tell you how to set permissions after I knew which web server you were using.

but the 2 other files open up just fine. Why would it be only the 1 file that is not working?

I'm using version 5 of the "Personal Web Manager".

Right click that file and I think there are permissions in properties?? But its been so long sence i have used PWS...maybe you should put IIS on there?

The only permissions I found were the read-only and hidden. I did find a solution, however. I moved the entire site to a different directory.

Thanks for your help, though...
