hi all,

This is Access 2003.

The 2003 database resides on a Win 2000 server that does NOT have Access installed.

An external application connects to this db to read and update a table. It is able to read rows bt cannot update them. Get error "Cannot update. Object is read-only"

But the db permissions appear to be ok and Everyone has FULL permissions to the folder.

There is no system.mdw file on this server and I'm wondering if that is the problem and how to create it... ?

Thanks. John

Check the file permissions on the Win 2000 server.

Whoever opens the database will need sufficient permissions for the *.ldb file to be created/changed/deleted. If Access can't create this file the database is opened Read Only.

Hope this helps,

That's a good suggestion CMP!

I have been focusing on the .mdb file.

I'll try this tomorrow and post the results.
