Today I received an email about a charity campaign at work which had this at the end:

And the Grand prize winner who will receive a gift card valued at $300.00 goes to
Jane Doe from Nutrition Services Congratulations!!
(name changed to protect the innocent)

But who is the grand prize winner who goes to Jane Doe, anyway? And I didn't know my company had a department called NSC.

Do you have any amusing office email to share? "Official" company literature counts, too.

Surely a "Grand" prize winner gets a $1,000!

Stupid taxes...

It must be fun to be working for such place like "Nutrition Services Congratulations". Mine doesn't sound exciting like that:-(

So Jane "Doe" was the "bread" winner

...and being that it's NSC, the bread MUST be whole grain!

When I see those I know immediatelly - 'typo'!
Or
I AM here, so why have you left a message on my home phone?

"Nutitional Services Congratulations."

We know Jane is a "working girl," but did she really get the "clap?" If she worked in IT, the APP-LAWS apply...

ESquared: homophone. Good one.

We used to have a Shift Leader (a low ranking member of management) in our call center who would send out an email when he got a phone call from a customer thanking a particular agent for outstanding service.

A typical email might read something like this:
example email said:
Claire called from [Store Name] to say that Charles was very friendly and resolved her problem very quickly.

"Great Job" Charles.

Several of us went to him and tried to explain that using quotes in that manner made it seem like he was being sarcastic, but he just kept right on doing it. Until he was "let go".

It's easy to miss, but in the original post, the main error is: "The grand prize winner ... goes to Jane Doe!"

Too bad the prize doesn't go to her... just the prize winner. Whoever that is. And what he or she is supposed to do once arriving at Jane Doe is completely unknown.

Depending on Jane Doe, that might be a good thing.

Good Luck

My husband got evaluation yesterday that ticks me off because of the style.
1. Jon understand a process and often suggesting solutions to a problems. You do not always communicate clearly what needs to be done.
2. Jon works well with people. Sometimes when you have to assign task you end up doing it yourself.
3. Jon 's documentation is always accurate and we can trust your inventory because he usually correct 99% and managers like format you are using for documents.

Is this belieavable that person who wrote this is a Vice president of the company that has 3 plants and he has a very high education? He thinks very highly of himself btw.

Unbelievable.

Reminds me of the offer I heard once:
Raffle-ticket Seller: Would like like to buy a raffle ticket for a young widow?

Potential purchaser: No thanks...my wife wouldn't let me keep her if I won.

You criticise the grammar in the original quote, but what about this sentence? How should it read?
"Do you have an amusing office email to share? "
or
"Do you have any amusing office emails to share? "

2 a : messages sent and received electronically through an e-mail system <receives a lot of e-mail> b : an e-mail message <sent him an e-mail>

It appears to me that e-mail can be singular or plural depending on context. It might be an interesting new thread if there a debate on that.

"All money raised will be spent...
