amqrrmfa -- queuemanager "not connected"

Hello people

i am completely new to MQ, can anyone tell me what purpose the amqrrmfa.exe solves?

also, when i issue

strmqm QM

i get a Dr Watson error saying that "amqrrmfa.exe" did an access violation.

as a result, when i look through the MQSeries explorer, the Queue Manager says.. running but " Not Connected"

when i do a
dis clusqmgr(*)

on MQ.. i get a "repository unavailable"

can anyone help please
