How do I decide what kind of battery backup to purchase for the system i.e. how much amps and wats that it would require?

First you need to know the maximum useage of your system. For that you need to tell us what system type and how big. It also depends to some extent on the type of terminals used on the system as that also contributes to the power drain. Then you have to decide the approximate time you want the system to stay up for. Because Amps can be determined from volts and wattage you can then calculate the number of amps you need from your batteries.

I would like to consider the max. I am not about to propose anything less than that as the battery has to be designed to support any ugprade to more station ports. Curretnly there are 3 cabients which are almost full. 32 trunk ports and 60 analog stations and the rest digital.

Could tell me where to get a formula to calculate the required battery?

Try this:

Now, if you look in the hardware manual for the phone system you have it should tell you the spec's for each PIM or the equilivent. Remember that a book or .pdf (now) will give you allot of information.

Post back if you have any questions. [2thumbsup]

But what system??????

Good question... I mean it would certainly be different for an Elite 48, compared to a 2000 (which has batteries in it already) to a 2400 (which would require a MUCH larger UPS...)

... come to think of it, my 48 has batteries in it already, too...
