Hi,

Can someone please assist with the command(s) to display the condition of the PRI trunks & channels? There are 3 PRIs and need to check to make sure that all the channels are up after a PRI repair.

Thank you!

- Job 38:36

clarification... not asking for the dis-sdsu or dis-bssu but rather the command that will list all trunks/spans/channels and their condition

Thank you!

DIS-BUEND:,B;
this will display the status of the trunk groups.

If you see any of them in the 'other' column
then display that trunk group DIS-BUEND:X;

This will show you the port equipment number (PEN)
For example 1-2-3-0

Then you can display it as follows:
DIS-SDSU:ALL,,PEN,PER3,1,2,3,0;

To reset that trunk the procedure is now as follows:

DEA-DSSU:L,PEN,1-2-3-0;
ACT-DSSU:AUL,BCHAN,1-2-3-0;
RES-DSSU:pEN,1-2-3-0;

and then display again to see if the channels are up
DIS-SDSU:ALL,,PEN,PER3,1,2,3,0;

SDSU is what I use for that. It tells me if the channels are up or down. Otherwise I use the ISDN trace utility to monitor traffic. I don't know of any other way to tell without a network analyzer or something.

Yes SDSU works but on individual ISDN Circuits.
If you DIS-BUEND:,B; then you can see the up/down/busy status of them all to start with.
Only works with newer versions

I just went and checked that out for my own education. The output I get is a table that says configured trunks vs activated trunks, and free/busy information. I would use that for my initial quick "is everything OK" and then if the numbers don't match I would still have to look at SDSU to see what channels are at fault?? Unless I'm missing something?

Yes that would be the way.
If you see channels appearing in the last column (other) then you have trunks that have some trouble.
Display that trunk group so as you know what pens the trunks are. (DIS-BUEND:XXX) where XXX is the No. in first column
Then you can display the SDSU for those pens to see what is up.
Also you would have to follow the reset procedure as outlined above.
Normally also in the COP you have the following:RMSG and RRST which acknowledge ISDN restart messages from the carrier and also send a restart message to the carrier if the circuit is unplugged and plugged in again at the PBX end.

Thanks for that. We are going to be upgrading everything we have in the coming year, and there will be lots of plugging and unplugging!! When the dust settles I will have the main 4000 with 6 survivable IPDA installations, ProCenter 8, E911, CDR Stats, Meet Me, Web\Video Conf, AVST CX and RightFax.

Wow thats cool, lots of work on for you so !

You can also use traffic analysis in the Assistant, and it gives you a nice graph of 4 different trunk group useage
But all it does to get that information to draw the graph is to do a DIS-BUEND:,B; in the background - minimum every 10 seconds.

If you do have a lot of Primary Rate circuits to test every day I would suggest setting up a direct access code for each trunk group or using 'controlled trunk and line selection' which is a HiPath feature.

where can I find the traffic analysis in the Assistant Hipath v.5

Firstly the Java has to work correctly on your PC - so you have to complete the 'Client Preparation' if not already done so.
(Java version support on V5 Hipath is Sun Version 1.6.0 (build 1.6.0_b05)

In the Assistant
Go to Base Administration/Application Control and turn on 'Dynamic Traffic Monitoring' if not already done.

If you do have to turn it on then when you go back to the main assistant page you have to refresh so as it will appear.

To use Traffic Monitoring go to Diagnostics and you should see 'Dynamic Traffic Monitoring' there now.

Go in to that and select the trunk groups (up to 4 at a time) that you wish to monitor.
Click on 'Trunk Group Selection'
Select the trunk groups, click on monitor and decide on the values there, to test just accept the default and click 'create'.

Then you can click on Display or Stop

thank you sbcsu! had to activate it... once the graph displays and the monitoring begins, I don't see a stop button... is the process stopped at this point by closing windows or should I be seing the stop button?

never mind... found the menu where the jobs could be stopped... Thank you!

Glad you got it sorted.
The answer to the customers 'next question' is no - you can not export the information....
but you could take a screen shot.

Also on the left hand side the scale is a percentage (not amount of trunks busy) of the trunk group that is busy so if you have only 1 trunk in one monitored trunk group and 60 in another the percentage of the first group will mean different different things.
