Hi,
I have a quick query that hopefully someone can draw on their experience for.

I have a report that is scheduled to run every month. I have now changed the report selection criteria and saved it to CE again. Will the existing schedules pickup the amended report or do I need to replace the scheduled entries ?
Many thanks - ShortyA

Hi,
If you deleted and then republished the report is will have no existing instances in the scheduler since it has a new ID#, so it will need to be rescheduled.
If you opened, edited and resaved from within CE - using CR Pro's open from Enterprise folder option-, then it may still be OK, check in the CMC to be sure..

Hi,
I have saved it from CR using the Enterprise folders option. I am assuming that the scheduler looks at the report that is saved at runtime rather than the version that was there when the report was first scheduled.

Hi,
Remember the problem with ASSuME [smile].

Check it in the CMC to be sure...

I do this almost every day, you'll be fine.

I do not open from within CE though, we are under version control, so I open from VSS, edit, save back to VSS, then I save to CE over the top of the existing report.

Works flawlessly.

You'll have to reset the database login and parameters in the CMC, but otherwise you should be fine.

Hey there,
thanks for that! Puts my mind at ease with amending reports that are being scheduled.

I have been resetting the login and params each time but didn't want to have to reschedule as there are a variety of different email addresses with different params on each report.

Thanks again!

What do you mean 'save to CE' over top of the existing report? Are you saving over the .rpt file that is in the input folder? It sounds like you are not re-importing.

I am using CE 9 lite.

From within the Crystal Reports designer, select Save As and point to Enterprise Folders on the left side, log in and save.

You can also open reports from CE.

I do this with CE 8.5 daily.

Thanks; I see now that I can get the report location from crystal enterprise and use this to locate the report I want to change. I can then make changes and save right back into the same folder. Cool!
One caveat for anyone else reading this: I did notice that you can't just save any old report over top of an existing CE report - you have to get the CE report from the folder and make changes to that one. I guess CE does something to the report when it is initially imported so that it can recognize it later.

I open reports from my local drive and save them over the top of existing CE reports often, so I'm not sure what you mean.

You will lose parameter and connectivity setups if something changes though, meaning that the scheduling will have to be redone.

Those using CE 8.5 need to apply the CE patch to enable CR to read and write to CE folders.
