My CPU temp normally runs between 49-53 degrees celsius under load. Is this normal? Compared to some of the pentium temps I have seen, this seems higher. I have an Antec heatsink and fan with thermal compound between die and heatsink. The system runs fine with no instability. Also, how high could i overclock this CPU?

thanks in advance for help.

I think the AMD 2600 XP processor produces around 70 watts of heat and temps as you described are well within the normal range. You can go to if you are concerned, and need further data.

I think your temperature is fine for the most part.

I have 2 XP's and the 2700+ runs at 53C under full load and the 2200+ runs at 51C under full load.

The Athlon XP's run hotter than Intel CPU's but in all fairness have a higher 'snap, crackle & pop' temperature (i.e. when the chip 'melts' down).

I don't think you have any real concerns, so relax! [wink]

Cheers!
