Anyone know of any? I posted this in the hardware forum, thread602-1267241, too, just in case someone else has a similar setup and found one.

What I have gotten to work:

AVG Pro AntiVirus
Norton IS 2006

What has failed to work properly:

Sygate Personal Firewall - hangs for 4 minutes before starting service
Zone Alarm Internet Suite - slows the whole machine down
a-squared Anti-Malware - Though it worked great on my last machine, I read lots-o-problems on the a-squared forums about dual core users, don't even wanna try.

Now I'm aware I listed Norton IS 2006, which includes "everything I'll need", but I cannot stand Norton or McAfee (Norton most of all). The only reason I tried it, was because it came with my new motherboard with a 90 day trial.
While I did have Norton installed, it kept popping up all the time with alerts about Automatic Updates not being on, and I couldn't tell it to stop! I don't like Automatic Updates cause they always seem to update when I least want them to. I prefer to download the updates manually, which I do every week (when I remember :p). But Norton insisted on me turning on Automatic Updates, and I couldn't find any option to say "Hey, I don't want that on. Leave it be!".

Right now, I'm using Sygate FW, I just have to wait 4 minutes before it will start the service. Everything else runs like lightning.

I've installed the AMD Dual Core Optimizer, but it seems to have had no effect on speeding up the Sygate service.

Anyway, what I really need is a fully configurable (somewhat complex) security suite that is not made to do everything automatically for you and works on a dual core system (that don't cost $1,000 either :p). Sorry I'm so picky [sunshine]

Any suggestions will be great. If you know of any fully configurable security suites, even if you are not sure if it will work on a dual core system, please let me know. Once I found the ones I'm using now, I stopped looking, so I'm pretty much outta the loop when it comes to knowing what each security suite has to offer. I have a strong fear, however, that 90% of the suites out there are quickly becoming more and more like Norton [sadeyes].

Thanks,

-Merk
