Has anyone tried to run FreeBSD (non-GUI) on a AMD Athlon/Duron system? Was there any issues?

I am looking at adding another server to my rack and someone offered me an Athlon/Duron motherboard with a Promise ATA RAID for a pretty good price. I know the Promise chipset is supported, but cant find anything on compatibility with Athlon/Duron which shouldnt be an issue since it is an X86 processor ... but you never know.

Thanks

So far, I have never had a problem with AMD chips and FreeBSD. My test server is a K6-350. A friend of mine who is a real FreeBSD expert is right now building a FreeBSD server with an 800 mhz Athlon, if he has any trouble, I'll let you know, but I doubt there will be any problem.

As you said, since it is x86, and the Athlon chipset has been available for awhile now, so there has been plenty of time for the FreeBSD developers to test it out.

There is an issue with power management on some amd chipsets,(at least on freebsd 4.4) but on most motherboards you can disable apm totally, eliminating the problem.
(some errormessage, "microuptime() went backwards", appearing several times /sec , slowing down the system considerably and eating diskspace if logged)
