In a form I created a command button to close the form I called it exit. Then i decided that i wanted it to exit access instead so i deleted the button and created a new one. I called that exit. This caused a problem when clicking on it (probably because i called the first one exit!)But now when i create a new button to make it exit and i name it somthing else i still get the same error message saying 'ambiguous name detected'

You probably have more that one subroutine attached to a form that have the same name.

When you deleted the original button you probably didn't delete the code attached to this button. Then, you placed a new button on the form, called that exit and then created code for this button. By default the code name will be that of the new button & _click(). Result, two blocks of code, same name.

Just do a double check and delete any subroutines that have the same name as the one you want to keep.
