Well, it seems I've gone and done something rather dumb, and now I'm not quite sure how to fix it. I set a password for my PIX firewall when I got it, and it was a rather complex one that I made up on the spot so it couldn't be easily guessed. However, I seem to have failed to write it down, and can't remember what it was. The point is, I need some way to either recover my password or reset the passwords. I checked the Cisco site, but their directions were rather confusing to me. All I really managed to come away with was that I would need to know what version of the software I have. Can someone give me some sort of step-by-step on how to recover/reset the passwords? Thanks

Hi

Depending on your model of your cisco pix would depend on hoq you reset the password. Please let us know the model number please.

HI.

Yes it depends on the software version and hardware device you have.
You can check the software version using the serial console cable. You'll also need this serial console for the recovery procedure.

Did you change the telnet or the enable password?
Bypassing the telnet password is easy - use serial console or PDM. The password recovery procedure is needed if you changed the Enable password.
