I was looking for something else, and I found this subdirectory, titled with my XP log-on name. the files are:
a30exsites.txt
a30sites.txt
asccfg.dat
ascook.txt
asper.txt
asredck.txt
asredir.txt
asuhosts.txt
curstats.dat
session.out
The asredck file is a list of 100+ websites. All the files are dated Feb 20, 2004.

Win xp sp2
System clean of spyware
Not AOL!
Just worried about the websites, and the reference to "hosts".

Yes you are paranoid, and so you am I! It is the only way to be in the current environment.

The files look as though they may belong to a developer app, which subdir are they in?

The asredck file is a list of 100+ websites.
Websites that you visit, malicious sites or just random sites, do you see a theme amongst them?

I have also seen remote access logs look a bit like this, the question is - incoming or outgoing???

Happy worrying.
Daniel.

My log-on Is "****". I found this sub-directry named "****" on my E:/ partition, and that is what it contains. The sites listed look like "bad" sites that would be listed in a spyware blocker (doubleclick, etc,). I do have "SpywareGuard", and "Spyware Blaster". I may have found it! The new version of "AddSAubtract", is Called "ASPro". The "asredck" file may match the sites listed in AdSubtract. Looking further, the files in "****", have the same date (2-20-2004) as the install files for AdSubtract! I guess that's it, why it is seperate from the program is beyond me. Thanks for "jogging" me to look for programs that start with "AS" (do a search for "as" and see how many there are!).

Geeze, Micker377, don't do that again... you scared me there a second...

I mean, when I hear someone like yourself (knowing your expertice0, going nuts on something like that, it scares me...

glad it was something benign and belonging to an AdWare checker, too...

maybe they are placed away from the program, as to protect them from being deleted by some malware...
