I have an .rpm file and I have no idea what to do with it.

Anybody?

Ok..somebody explained what an RPM is in a file below that didn't seem to be RPM related at all. Now I'm happy.

Hi,

As you probably gathered, rpm stands for Redhat Package Manager and is the most widely used software package distribution system in the linux world. Almost all distributions use the rpm format except for debian and distros based on debian (corel linux, progeny, etc.) So a .rpm or .deb (for debian et al) file is roughly the linux equivalent of an installshield or similar install package in the M$ world.

For the full gory details of rpm see 'Maximum RPM' --> .
