Always lose first ping

Hi

When I ping my servers in the DMZ I NEVER get the first ping back.
I can access all the services (

http://www,vpn,ftp

etc), although they do seem a little slower to connect.
I don't have this problem with the boxes outside of the firewall.

Any ideas
