I am looking for a more inexpensive means of remotely accessing a computer. To date, I have found one option that looks incredibly promising called desktop on call (no liscensing fees for corporate use and it is browser based using a java applet, so it only has to be installed on the client computer--but it may not be commercially available in the US. What I am really looking for is some way to use the the existing tools in windows 98, NT, 2000 to perform troubleshooting on a remote pc. I know that hyperterminal is something that may be of use, but I am not too familiar with its functionality as a type of remote access troubleshooting----if there even is a way to use it like that. If anyone knows of anything at all that could be used, (VPN?) then please respond. Any information at all would be very, very useful to me.
