Hi,

We're having a run of bad luck with our Avaya 3701 DECT phones. More specifically, they keep losing connection to the base-station, no matter how close they are.

So we're looking into purchasing an alternative.. but I can't seem to find much info on the web.

Does anyone know where to begin the search?

The base station is called Avaya IP DECT Mobility Manager
v1.1.11, if that makes any difference :)

Best regards,
Thomas

you could get the customer to upgrade to R4 DECT. Mind you I do have R4 DECT handsets registered against our old ADMM.

the other alternative is a third party solution like Kirk IP6000 (works on SIP endpoints)

Thanks - I'll try checking up on the Kirk IP6000.

Why purchase a new IP Dect?

The ADMM works, but it all depents on how you have set it up. Iron walls, electrical wiring ect do have a lot of influence on IP Dect.

The handsets cannot longer be bought, we still sell them. If you dutch or belgium you could give me a call.

Hi Bas1234

Sorry, I'm no expert on the right terms. What I meant was, that our Avaya 3701 handsets are inherently unstable. They lose connection to the base, they reboot and more. Doesn't matter if they are placed 2 meters or 20 meters from the base it self.

I found a Siemens Gigaset which should be compatible.. but lets see :)

And thanks for the offer, but I'm situated in Denmark.

Make sure all the IP Dect have te same "IP Region" is not the you cannot make handovers from IP Dect A > IP Dect B
So if the Dect Basestations are in the same building then the IP Region needs to be the same. So login to the ADMM and check it for all Basestations.

Put new good quality AAA 1000mah rechargeable batteries in them. cures a multitude of sins with these phones.

In case anyone is curious, the Siemens Gigaset SL400h fits perfectly. It was a bit hairy converting the IPUI to IPEI, but after that it worked like a charm.
